Prof. Reddy needs no introduction, since his achievements in Mechanics are famous. Distinguished Professor, Regents’ Professor and inaugural holder of the Oscar S. Wyatt Endowed Chair in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. He is one of the researchers responsible for the development of the Finite Element Method. Prof. Reddy has made significant seminal contributions in the specific areas of finite element method, plate theory, solid mechanics, variational methods, mechanics of composites, functionally graded materials, fracture mechanics, plasticity, biomechanics, classical and non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, and applied functional analysis. Professor at the Department of Mechatronics and Mechanical Systems Engineering, Escola Politécnica of the University of São Paulo. Prof. Silva has made significant contributions in the fields of Development of Piezocomposite Materials and Piezoelectric Transducers, Development of Micro-electromechanical Systems, and Topology Optimization Method Applied to the Design of Mechanical and Mechatronic Systems in General. He has over 60 journal papers and several book chapters published. Prof. E. C. N. Silva curriculum shows his work in the field of topology design and optimization of piezoelectric structures and microstructures.
