PROFESSOR LI-ZHI ZHANG

Li-Zhi Zhang is a Professor at South China University of Technology (Guangzhou, China). He has worked with energy recovery and heat and mass transfer topics and advanced humidity control technologies since 1992. His primary interest is on heat and moisture recovery from ventilation air with membrane technologies. His research interests also include: advanced moisture control and dehumidification technology; Modeling of heat and mass transfer in energy-related equipments; Development of novel functional materials for built environment. Current topics in his research group include membrane-based humidity control (membrane-based liquid desiccant air dehumidification and humidification), development of high moisture/VOCs selectivity adsorbent, development of high thermally conductive anti-corrosion plastics. The highlight of his research is to combine the development of new functional materials with the applications of heat and mass transfer technologies. Li-Zhi Zhang received his doctor's degree in Thermal Engineering from Dalian University of Technology in China in 1998. He then conducted his postdoctoral researches in Tsinghua University (Beijing) from 1998-2000, and in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2000-2003. In 2003, he joined South China University of Technology as one of the youngest professor at that time in SCUT. He is now the director of the research center for Energy Saving Built Environment Technologies.

Li-Zhi Zhang has published more than 100 papers in international journals. He has authored 4 books in advanced humidity control and obtained 10 patents in built environment technologies. He is currently members of the editorial board of Indoor and Built Environment, Int. J. Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and Int. J. Low Carbon Technologies. In 2006, he received the Fok-Ying Tung Education Fund award for young researchers of Education Ministry. In 2010, he received the first grade award in Natural Science research of Education Ministry. He has given a couple of keynote speeches at international conferences and he is the editors for several conference proceedings of heat transfer and energy conservation.

He is the Secretariat General of ISHTEC2012, the 4th international Symposium on Heat Transfer and Energy Conservation, which was held from Jan 6-9, 2012 in Guangzhou China (Conference Chairman Prof. Wenquan Tao, http:/ /www.ishtec2012.org). He has give 10 keynote speeches at international conferences in recent years.
